Bringing life back to vintage photography

A series using After Effects to add motion to static vintage photography by splitting them into layers representing depth of field, filling the layers with additional details and space, and panning past them in a 3D space while puppet-warping (flexing) some of the elements to create some additional motion within the scene. Around the time of looking into this technique, I came across some great vintage photos from public archives (here if you’re interested) – photos taken decades ago, most by unknown photographers. I loved the idea of bringing movement back to what are essentially forgotten moments – hopefully I’ll manage to get back to creating some more, but for now, here are a couple to get started…
